Corrections Policy

At DailyPressUK.co.uk, accuracy is the foundation of our commitment to readers. We strive to ensure that all content published on our platform is factually correct, properly sourced, and clearly presented. When we fall short of that standard, we correct the record promptly, transparently, and in a way that is visible to our audience.

This policy sets out how we handle errors, how readers can report inaccuracies, and what you can expect from us when a correction is needed.

Reporting an inaccuracy

If you believe an article, headline, graphic, or any other editorial content on DailyPressUK.co.uk contains a factual error, please contact our corrections team via email at corrections@dailypressuk.co.uk. To help us investigate efficiently, please include the following in your message:

  • The full URL (web address) of the article or page in question.
  • A clear description of the suspected error and what you believe the correct information should be.
  • Your source for the correct information, where possible (for example, a link to an official document, a public dataset, or a directly quoted statement).
  • Your name and a contact email address in case we need to follow up for clarification.

You may also use the general editorial contact address editorial@dailypressuk.co.uk or the UK desk at ukdesk@dailypressuk.co.uk, but for the fastest handling we recommend using the dedicated corrections address.

How we handle reports

All correction requests are reviewed by our Standards & Fact-Checking desk, led by Charlotte Reeves, Standards & Fact-Checking Lead (/our-team/). The team assesses each report against the original source material, editorial notes, and available evidence. We do not accept anonymous corrections, but we will keep your contact details confidential unless you agree otherwise.

If a report is found to be unsubstantiated or based on a difference of opinion rather than a factual error, we will explain our reasoning to the person who reported it.

Types of corrections

We apply one of three types of correction, depending on the nature and severity of the error:

  • Factual correction with a note: Applied when a specific fact, figure, name, date, or quote is demonstrably wrong. A correction note is appended to the bottom of the article stating what was originally published, what the corrected version is, and the date of correction.
  • Clarification: Applied when the information is not strictly inaccurate but could be misleading, ambiguous, or incomplete in a way that affects understanding. A clarification note explains the ambiguity and provides additional context without altering the underlying fact.
  • Update: Applied when a story develops after publication and we need to add new information, or when a minor non-factual detail (such as a time, location, or job title) changes. Updates are clearly noted with the time and date of the update.

We do not delete or rewrite articles without explanation. Any substantive change to an article is accompanied by a visible note explaining what changed and why.

Timeframes

We aim to acknowledge receipt of all correction reports within two working days. Our target for resolving the report — either by issuing a correction, clarification, or update, or by providing a reasoned explanation of why no change is needed — is five working days for straightforward matters. More complex reports involving multiple sources or legal considerations may take longer; we will keep you informed of progress.

Display of corrections

Correction notes are displayed prominently at the end of the relevant article. Each note includes the date of correction, a brief description of the error, and the corrected information. For corrections involving a significant error that could have materially misled readers, we may also add a note at the top of the article. Where appropriate, we may publish a separate correction notice on our homepage or in a dedicated corrections feed.

Serious errors

If a correction involves a serious factual or ethical error — such as a mistake that could cause reputational harm, a breach of privacy, or a systemic failure of editorial process — the matter is escalated immediately to our Editor-in-Chief & Responsible Publisher, Jonathan Whitmore (/about-us/contact/). He oversees any further review, public statement if needed, and changes to editorial policy to prevent recurrence.

Our broader commitment

This Corrections Policy is part of our wider commitment to editorial integrity. You can read more about our editorial standards in our Editorial Policy and our Fact-Checking Policy. For any questions about this policy, contact Charlotte Reeves at charlotte.reeves@dailypressuk.co.uk or the editorial desk at editorial@dailypressuk.co.uk.

We welcome your vigilance: it helps us maintain the trust of our readers and the accuracy of our journalism.
